Which is a better picture for the Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit, but only one God)?
- An egg, with shell, whites and yolk but still just one egg?
- A three-leafed clover, with three leaves but one plant?
- Water in its three phases, liquid, ice, vapor?
Word pictures like these can be useful, but they're all flawed in their own way. What might be better to remember on Holy Trinity Sunday is that God is a person too, and that he interacts with us in some very real and distinctive ways.
