Former political staffer Brittany Higgins, along with her husband David Sharaz, has been declared bankrupt by ex-Liberal senator Linda Reynolds following a successful defamation lawsuit. The bankruptcy proceedings, initiated in October, will allow Senator Reynolds to recoup her legal costs from the defamation case, estimated to be over one million dollars. The estate of both Higgins and Sharaz will be managed by a trustee, with the former receiving a settlement of two point four million dollars from the Commonwealth.
