Holiday Trading Hours: Markets Close Early, Plan AheadThe U.S. stock markets will close early on December 24th at 1 p.m. ET and remain shut on December 25th for Christmas. The bond market follows suit, closing at 2 p.m. ET on December 24th and remaining closed on Christmas. Markets reopen on December 26th with normal hours. For New Years, bond markets close early on December 31st at 2 p.m. ET, while stocks run full schedules that day. Everything shuts down on January 1st, 2026. Plan your trades ahead to avoid any holiday hiccups.
