Description
The predominately Black town of Mason, Tennessee, a town of about 1,500 residents, was going to benefit significantly from the construction of a $5.6 billion Ford plant nearby. Tennessee Comptroller Jason Mumpower, a White Republican, accused Mason of 20 years of financial mismanagement, according to a report from MSNBC. Mumpower has demanded that Mason surrender its charter, which is reminiscent of historical expropriation of land owned by Black people.
