How do Community and Affinity Advance Racial Equity? w/ Michelle Holt-Shannon and Andres Mejia
Description
John Monaghan, Director of Partnerships at All Aces, Inc., hosts Michele Holt-Shannon and Andres Mejia of the University of New Hampshire’s Carsey School of Public Policy in this special episode of Intentionally Act Now.
Andres and Michele talk with John about the affinity groups and community conversations that they facilitate through a program called New Hampshire Listens. They discuss what it’s like to do racial equity work in what is undeniably, a very white state. Personally, Andres also reflects on his experiences as a student at UNH, as a student of color, as well as the importance of affinity groups in his own development, while Michele reflects on the role that cross-racial friendships and relationships have played in her own racial equity journey.
