What's one question we should absolutely avoid when we're studying the Bible? "What does that mean to you?" Let's not make the Bible about us, reading into the text what makes us feel better. We can't afford to sacrifice truth.
But also, maybe getting all riled up about that question is just that TheoBroTM rage about nothing. Maybe we can ask that question in an innocent way.
That said, what are the dangers of making the Bible about us? Well, we just might write new versions of classic hymns with lyrics that affirm us and our condition instead of draw us to God through the lens of truth.
