Episode Breakdown: How to Manage your Wedding Planning Timeline

Wedding tip: Celina's tip this week is to coordinate the thank yous across all of the speeches, or ask an assigned wedding party member to do this for you. There's really no need for the same people to be thanked in four different speeches!

Main topic: This week, we're presenting you with a handy, step-by-step road map for your wedding. Navigating your wedding-related admin can be quite the challenge - you've got a mammoth to-do list and a large stretch of time in which to complete it. We often hear from couples who aren't sure how to order their tasks, or are worried that they're starting too early, or leaving things too late! That's why we wanted to provide tips and advice for managing your wedding planning timeline.

Wedding dilemma: A listener writes, “Sorry, this is a bit of a complicated one, and I'm not sure if there's much advice that can be given to be honest, but here goes. We're getting married in May and have given out all the invites. We're still waiting on my Nan to RSVP, I thought it was odd that she hadn't, but thought maybe she thought it went without saying that she would be there. Yesterday my mum told me that my Nan has rung my uncle and told him she won't be coming to the wedding if we don't invite her brother, and she was trying to convince him not to come as well. I'm really shocked and hurt by this. We're only having a small wedding at a registry office followed by a small reception venue so we have only been able to invite grandparents and aunts and uncles and a couple of cousins. Plus, there is already some drama between him and my family anyway. I spent the whole day yesterday crying about it as I can't believe she would be so manipulative and spiteful. I am her eldest grandchild and the first of us to get married as well. We've always had a close relationship.” Our advice for this listener is to confront your Nan and reiterate that you'd love to have her attend the wedding but that you're restricted with the guest list, and that sacrifices have been made on both sides. And, whatever the outcome, remind yourself that she's the one making this awkward, not you!

Something to do when you're not planning your wedding: In this episode, Celina's recommending you seek out some of the albums that featured on the Best of 2019 lists that you may have missed during the year!
