Description

After TCU's remarkable run to the national championship game in the 2022 season, expectations were sky-high for the Horned Frogs heading into subsequent seasons. However, replicating that level of success has proven to be a challenge. TCU's 2023 season saw a significant decline, as the team struggled to maintain the same level of play that propelled them to the title game against Georgia.

One of the biggest factors in TCU's decline has been the loss of key players. Quarterback Max Duggan, a Heisman finalist and the heart of the team, graduated, leaving a significant void in leadership and production. Additionally, several standout players from the defense and offensive line either graduated or moved on to the NFL, weakening the team's overall depth and experience. The loss of key contributors made it difficult for the Frogs to maintain their edge.

Moreover, the strength of the Big 12 Conference, with competitive teams like Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and rising programs like BYU and UCF, added to TCU's difficulties. The Horned Frogs faced tough matchups nearly every week, and without the same firepower as before, they struggled to stay at the top of the standings.

Head coach Sonny Dykes has faced the pressure of navigating these challenges while trying to rebuild and develop new talent. While TCU has remained competitive, their inability to sustain the momentum from their historic national championship appearance has left fans wondering if the Horned Frogs can regain their former glory in the seasons to come.
