U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta said that Rhodes presents a "continuing threat and peril" to America and the democracy. Fellow defendant Kelly Meggs received a 12 year prison sentence. Prosecutors had sought a 25 year sentence for Rhodes and a 21 year sentence for Meggs.
