In Legal Terms: Civics
Description
Civics is the study of government and citizenship, teaching people about their rights, responsibilities, and how to participate in their communities and nation. That’s the mission of our show also! Our guest is uniquely qualified to further that mission – Justice Randy “Bubba” Pierce former Mississippi Supreme Court Justice and former legislator.

What are our civic duties? According to Arizona State Center for American Civics duties include such as voting, paying taxes, casting educated votes, serving on juries, defending the country in the armed forces, and participating in civic organizations.
One of our civic duties is to defend our country in the armed forces. We’ve done a couple of broadcasts about that. If you’d like to learn a little bit about military and the law check out one of our In Legal Terms podcasts from September 9 or February 4th both from 2025.
Another civic duty is to serve on juries. We’ve done a couple of broadcasts on that. May 28th 2024 and May 15th 2018.
