There has recently been progress in strengthening marine and coastal EbA in climate policy in Africa, along with a surge in ocean research globally. However, rising concerns over terrestrial issues in climate policy have overshadowed marine and coastal EbA concerns. 

In this episode Dr. Jessica Thorn discusses her research paper which identifies the challenges and opportunities for integrating marine and coastal EbA into climate policy and planning within SADC.

This podcast series is hosted by the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA), funded by the European Union under the Global Climate Change Alliance Plus Programme (GCCA+), overseen by the SADC Secretariat. It forms part of a project that aims to strengthen the uptake of marine and coastal EbA in the national climate responses of SADC’s coastal states.
