Description
“Horse first” has become a common phrase in the equine welfare movement.
It’s a perspective that means the horse is not only being considered, but that his or her needs are being put ahead of the human’s needs, wants or desires.
Many wear it as a badge of honour—I certainly did.
But is ‘horse first’ the final frontier? Or is there more beyond the notion of needing to put the horse ahead of the human as the pathway to avoid causing harm?
