Description
Police say two people are in custody after a shooting at Australia's Bondi beach - an incredibly popular tourist area just east of Sydney. Multiple casualties have been reported, and police are still on the scene. The New South Wales ambulance spokesperson said 13 people were taken to hospital. The public is being urged to avoid the area. A Hanukkah festival was taking place on the beach at the time. Israeli President Isaac Herzog has commented, calling it a cruel attack on Jews who went to light the first candle of Hanukkah on the beach. The Australian Prime Minister has called the scenes “shocking and distressing” and said emergency responders are currently working to save lives.
