It's OK If You're Struggling - Sarah Stites (ep. 904)
Description
For a long period of time, she thought her struggle with dieting was all her fault. She felt so ashamed that she didn’t talk to anyone about what she was going through — not even when she was diagnosed with pre-diabetes and PCOS, or had major weight loss surgery (and gained the weight back).
Taking back her power started with a deeper, kinder understanding of herself. With the help of her mom, Dr. Martha Katz, PhD, MS, she finally learned to work with her body and mind, let go of the shame, and meet her goals in an enjoyable way.
In this interview, you'll find answers to these questions:
- What is a gratitude practice and how can it help with self-esteem?
- How can I start healing my relationship with food and body image?
- What role does self-compassion play in overcoming body shame?
- Can gratitude coexist with feelings of shame, and how can I navigate this?
- Why do I revert to unhealthy eating habits when stressed and how can I change this?
- How can underlying emotional or psychological issues contribute to overeating or food addiction?
- What are common barriers to maintaining a healthy eating habit?
