This guy needs to read up on borderline personality disorder, which has a stupid and unhelpful name bc it's really just a cluster of dysfunctional coping skills that are usually related to childhood trauma. I have BPD myself and definitely recognize the "I hate you but don't leave me" pattern of pushing away and pulling back. She sounds like a BPD who tends to lash out at others, which is unfortunately much more difficult to deal w, whereas I mostly punish myself.
