Kristy McDermott - leading by example with VET in Horticulture
Description
Hear Kristy's story about overcoming her barriers through VET training to start her own business in landscaping. Kristy left school in year 9, and later took up VET training as a mature-age student to show her children that success is always a possibility.
Kristy made her move into the landscaping business by completing a Diploma of Landscape Design and a Diploma of Horticulture.
We also hear from Karin Cahill - a parent of a successful VET graduate who talks about the journey of playing a supporting role for her son's education and career, and Samantha Boreham - Assistant Principal (Learning Innovation) at CathWest College who talks about leading a team of school educators in inspiring the future of VET students.
