Kwanzaa celebrations are in full swing, with events in Willowbrook, Pasadena, and Baldwin Hills. The second day focuses on kujichagulia, or self-determination. In Willowbrook, a marketplace and bazaar runs from ten a.m. to four p.m. at the A C Bilbrew Library. Pasadenas event at the La Pintoresca Branch Library features music, storytelling, and a performance by Brother Yusef. The Lula Washington Dance Theatre in Baldwin Hills wraps up its anniversary Kwanzaa show on Monday. Kwanzaa honors the seven principles, including ujamaa for cooperative economics and imani for faith. Created in 1966 by Maulana Karenga, Kwanzaa draws from African heritage to inspire change.
