LGBTIQ+ Human Rights across Cyprus
Description
For the 25th episode of "Rainbow on Air," join us for one of the most enlightening discussions on LGBTQI+ matters in Cyprus! We welcomed Resat Saban, the project coordinator of Queer Cyprus Association, and activist Hulusi Kilim to discuss and compare the current circumstances across
the island. Resat provided crucial insights into how Turkey's censorship on various platforms restricts access to diverse content in the north.
We also covered how the European Union promotes LGBTQI+ issues in south. The conversation highlighted the notable absence of religious involvement in these matters in the northern part of Cyprus, unlike in the south. We explored how religion and politics influence human rights in general. Inevitably, a comparison emerged between the southern and northern parts of Cyprus, as well as Turkey. All in all, this podcast should not be missed!
