About our guest:J.D. Walther is currently completing a Masters of Science (MSc) degree at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland – Studies in Mindfulness. His research interest is how mindfulness affects a leader’s motivation facing adaptive challenges. He is a certified mindfulness instructor with his primary training from the Mindfulness Association in the United Kingdom. He also trained at the UCLA Mindfulness Awareness Research Center (MARC) and the Brown Mindfulness Center.

JD’s love has always been as an entrepreneur. He began his career here in Houston working for an entrepreneurial services group for one of the largest accounting firms in the world. Innovation and building systems led him to a Fortune 100 Fastest Growing Company where he built its operations and administrative systems all over the world - before he turned 30. He founded a consulting company and became a consultant to numerous companies (Fortune 500 to Startups) primarily in the energy and energy services industry. Many of the processes and system that he created are still being used as industry standards. He founded an energy technology company that adapted a brainwave pattern recognition technology to isolate geologic attributes from seismic data, and he is the inventor of two energy exploration patents. Most recently, JD Walther worked for a nonprofit organization located near downtown Houston that provided emergency food and clothing to homeless and low income families. Using Lean Startup Methodology, he led an initiative partnering with the Houston Food Bank that built the largest program in Texas that directly distributes food to low income working households. He holds a Bachelors in Business - Accounting from Texas A&M University, an MBA from Rice University. He is a Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum – Houston/Gulf Coast and a member of the Adaptive Leadership Network.
