Lean Hog Market Reopens with Gains; USDA Reports Increased Pork Carcass Cutout ValueThe lean hog market reopened with significant gains, ranging from $1.95 to $2.50, attributed to pre-Black Friday sales. Despite a decrease in open interest, the USDAs national base hog price surged by $1.85 to $73.57. The CME Lean Hog Index, however, dipped by $0.80. The USDA reported a $2 increase in the pork carcass cutout value, with all primal cuts higher. The federally inspected hog slaughter for Wednesday was 487,000 head, below last weeks and last years numbers. December, February, and April hogs closed higher, with gains of $1.975, $2.375, and $2.40, respectively.
