Description

Susan Arias was born in Sacramento California and moved to Oceanside when she was four years old. She enjoyed growing up in Oceanside spending time at the beach. Her parents instilled a sense of service in her at an early age. She attended Vista High School. She enjoyed the team atmosphere that sports afforded her. After graduating from Vista High she attended and graduated from Vanguard University. She chose it because it was close to the beach. She loved it. She then earned her Master’s degree from Biola University. She chose Biola because of it’s extensive program in linguistics. She had been working at the Boys and Girls Club in Garden Grove and she was teaching english as a second language. She loved it and wanted to learn more about it. She specialized in literacy education with nonprofits. It was a perfect fit for her because she was able to serve and support her family at the same time. One terrific opportunity she had was to work for The Boys and Girls Club of Vista where she worked for her very first job! She was recruited to The Maac Project and she jumped at it! More about MAAC: “Today, MAAC provides life-changing services to over 100,000 individuals annually throughout San Diego County. Collaboration with community partners ensures MAAC remains on the forefront of the community’s ever-changing needs, while strong relationships with funders foster strategic planning around emerging trends. MAAC’s Pathways of Service– Advocacy & Leadership Development, Economic Development, Education, Health & Well-being, and Housing – support our mission of maximizing self-sufficiency with families and individuals through high-quality programs and advocacy in our communities.”
