Description

*DISCLAIMER* This episode was planned & recorded before the protests following George Floyd's murder. We understand that we have a limited view of suffering as two privileged, white women. We are aware that our suffering is very different and we do not experience the same daily fear and suffering that our black brothers and sisters do. We are not experts and do not cover everything here, but we believe this message is important and can be a helpful tool for some during this time.

In this episode, Kelsey and I discuss comparative suffering. This is when you don’t want to share your own suffering because someone else’s seems bigger or worse than yours. Comparative suffering can also take shape when you minimize someone’s experience with suffering compared to the rough time you’ve had. Kelsey and I share our experience with comparison and suffering and we dive deep into how this effects our relationships. We hope this episode gives you space to feel and express your own suffering and helps you have more meaningful conversation in order to connect more deeply in your relationships.
