ABOUT THE MUSIC OF SOUND

The Music Of Sound is a cinematic dreampop trio featuring young South Indian vocalist Sherin, National Youth Orchestra flautist Elena Trent and veteran Welsh composer Neil March. The band was formed to play the BBC Introducing Stage at Latitude in 2017 and has been through several line-ups and three record deals in the time since. Now signed to Monochrome Motif Records, their long-awaited debut album Eleven Short Stories is out on 26th July 2024 with the new single First Light (ft Sherin) to follow on 2nd August. You can check out the video. The band will play two album launch gigs on 8th August (The Front Room, Croydon) and 12th August (The Oddfellows, Hemel Hempstead) and play in London on 22nd October at The Bedford, Balham.

Eleven Short Stories sets out their pastoral mix of classical, ambient and Dream Pop sensibilities. The band, who made their live debut on the BBC Introducing Stage at Latitude made No 2 in the RTE RinaG Best Tracks of 2022. They also had a single remastered by music and broadcasting legend Tom Robinson while Stuart Maconie described Neil as ‘an old friend of the show’ on BBC Radio 6 Music‘s Freak Zone. The album unites veteran Welsh composer Neil March (Keyboards, Electronics & Backing Vocals) with the impressive vocal and piano skills of young Israeli artist Florie Namir (Piano & Vocals) and the virtuoso flute playing of National Youth Orchestra member Elena Trent (Flute) although Florie has since stepped back from the band to focus on parenthood and prodigious young South Indian vocalist Sherin has now joined the band. Neil says of the album: ‘It’s oddly nostalgic in parts for an album that is so future-facing in its musical approach. But the tracks represent different moments in time, some past, some present’. A remix version of the album featuring mixes by a variety of independent music artists will also be coming out soon and a series of new tracks are being released as singles which will eventually form an EP.
