New ‘What’s On’ Portal and Green Initiatives Lead Ipswich Council Updates
Description

Mayor Teresa Harding is back in Ipswich and hitting the ground running with a series of exciting updates for residents, including a new events portal, environmental initiatives, and a major success in waste reduction.
Discover Ipswich Launches ‘What’s On’ Portal
Residents and visitors can now stay updated on local events with the launch of the ‘What’s On’ portal on the Discover Ipswich website. The new platform allows users to browse events by category, create shortlists, and set up notifications.
“Our festivals and events are a driving force behind promoting Ipswich and supporting our economy,” said Mayor Harding. “This portal will help locals and tourists make the most of our thriving events calendar.”
The Discover Ipswich website also provides information on places to stay, eat, and explore.
Council Invites Residents to ‘Whack Some Weeds’
For those who love the outdoors, Ipswich City Council’s Bushcare program is welcoming volunteers for weekend working bees across the city.
With 12 active Bushcare groups, residents can help restore natural areas, remove invasive weeds, and connect with like-minded locals. No experience or tools required—just turn up and get involved!

Curbside Collection Success—70% Waste Recycled
Ipswich’s on-demand curbside collection program has kept nearly 1,000 tonnes of waste out of landfill, boasting an impressive 70% recycling rate.
Previously, all curbside waste went straight to landfill, but the new system has drastically improved sustainability. More than 12,000 residents have taken advantage of the free annual pick-up service, recycling everything from fridges to couches.
