Part 2 of The Curvy Surfer Girl, Elizabeth Sneed, on Sizing as Social Justice
Description
This is part 2 of 2 (check out the previous episode for Part 1 with the amazing Elizabeth Sneed!)
This week, we talk size-exclusion as social justice, expanding what you think is possible for yourself, and surfing in Nicaragua this April!
The Curvy Surfer Girl is Elizabeth Sneed. The Curvy Surfer Girl Movement is dedicated to reimagining the last 63 years of exclusive history in women's surfing. Hawaiian surfer, Elizabeth Sneed recognized the need for women to have a community dedicated to surfing that was representative of modern and diverse women athletes.
Elizabeth's personal journey of accepting herself as a plus-size athlete over the last 3.5 years was the catalyst that launched the movement. In the summer of 2020, Elizabeth partnered with a world-class surf photographer of Oahu's South Shore to launch some of the first images of a plus-size female surfer via Instagram.
Curvy Surfer Girl continued to grow as a movement and community through Instagram amassing 24,000 women in nine months, a resounding indication by women worldwide for more and better representation in women's surfing.
