There’s a killer on the loose in Ankh-Morpork—a killer armed with a gonne. On top of that, the dwarfs and trolls are at each other’s throats, Captain Vimes is getting married, and Carrot conscripts dozens of people to be in the Watch—technically the Citizens Militia, because there has been “an irreparable breakdown in law and order.” And Carrot knows his law.
