Preparing Kids for Emergencies
Description
In the 11th episode, hosts Dr Meghna and Devishobha interview CR on what an emergency entails, what are the different types of emergencies, and how we can prepare children to face emergencies.
He discusses how responding with high accuracy in less time is not something that is taught in schools, how enrolling children in martial arts is not necessarily enough to keep them safe, and how letting our kids talk is actually important in keeping them safe!
He also discusses how to talk to children about the potentially risky situations that could compromise their safety, and 3 ways we can inculcate situational awareness in our children:
Parents educating themselves in personal security education
Involving your child in fun drills at home
Identifying a safe spot in case there’s an emergency
