Description

Meet Dr. Jeff Karabanow! A professor in the School of Social Work. In this episode we chat about homelessness and poverty. Dr. Karabanow actively works towards (1) finding the narrative of what it is like for people to become unhoused, (2) understanding the process of getting off the streets and re-entering into mainstream culture, and (3) advocating for getting people into affordable housing. Through innovative techniques, such as creating animated shorts, Dr. Karabanow removes the hierarchy between the investigator and the research participant, builds a community and family, and generates a rich dataset to understand young adults who are unhoused. Look forward to interesting conversations about turning hair green, bribing policemen, and having gratitude for the simple things in life.
