When we think of something that is "barbaric", we might think of an act so revolting and reprehensible we can hardly imagine how it might happen in a "civilized society". Are we a civilized society? Judging from social media and the general nature of the commentary therein, one would have to say no, we have lost all civility. Why is this? What happened? Who are these "barbarians at the gates"? There is a new type of militancy ruling the world, and it can be found in every corner: religious militancy, ideological militancy, and your garden variety anarchists. Great change is coming to our planet, to unite us all into one big tolerant mass. The end result will be the judgment of the nations, not the kumbaya state the barbarians seem to hope for.
