Description

On this episode, I welcome the powerhouse Executive Director of R&B and Hip-Hop at Billboard Magazine, Gail Mitchell.  Gail has an incredible track record in the music industry, starting from radio and eventually making her way to Billboard Magazine to interview some of your favorite Hip Hop & R&B artists, in addition to moderating panels and keynote Q&A’s for industry organizations.

Gail and I discuss breaking into the music industry as a woman and how it really does take a village to raise a child. She touches on the evolution of women in music and rising through adversity in her career and motherhood. She provides a great perspective on how to relieve mom guilt by making sure to incorporate your children in the work that you do (who wouldn’t want to help their Mom prep for an interview with the one and only Prince! Yes, THE Prince!).  Gail details her trip to Paisley Park to interview the late artist before his untimely passing.  You have got to hear this incredible story!

Finally, Gail divulges her most used parenting technique that benefits both herself and her kids when they were younger, and she shares with us some powerful advice for mothers who are looking for their passions and who want to turn their passions into their career.
