Rules, Renovations and Damages
Description
Rules are interesting. People want others to follow them, until they don't want to follow them. That's not how it works. In the service industry, we have rules to ensure all guests/customers are treated fairly and consistently... such as those pesky things like check in and check out times, charges for smoking and damages.
When you stay in a hotel, rent a car, take a cruise, etc. and decide you are going to abuse the rental, expect the charges... and they won't be cheap. Rules.
If Check in is 4pm, and early check in is 1pm, not 3am. Rules. Check out is 11am, a late check out? 12pm. Again, rules.
Smoking? In designated areas. Rules
In this episode, we dig into some of the reasons as to "why" there are rules and how we apply them. While the rules may not always be convenient, please know, they are not arbitrary and are there to ensure we treat each and every guest the same way. If you have a question(s) about how and why hotels do things, please feel free to email your question to TalesfromtheServiceIndustry@gmail.com and we can review your questions.
