There are a lot of “arm-chair” military strategists complaining about how the Dothraki were used in battle. They’ are... were... cavalrymen, where else were they supposed to be? Behind the walls of Winterfell?

well this was critical. Never heard someone comment on a zombie being too smart? like wtf? this was more a critique on the writing than the actual episode.

Hi, Can anyone tell me if the Knights of the Vale were at Winterfell?, Maybe I missed them, but I didn't see any.

In regard to the Arya Mary Sue debate. where was her weapons training? She had a couple months with Cyrio and thats it. She wasnt trained by the faceless men how to fight and even if she was given some training on swordfighting then where did her knowledge of a spear come from? when did she learn to master the spear? Shes not a Mary Sue but she isnt as good as the show tries to paint her out to be. Seems extremely defensives for no reason. Rey is a Mary Sue though. you're lying if you say she isnt

I understand saying all the Dothraki and Unsullied dying was "problematic" because all the POC died and Jorah and Ghost survived... BUT 1. A Dothraki did survive. He was the first one back if i remember right. I know for fact i thought it was a wight but they let him through. 2. The Dothraki and Unsullied did what they've been trained to do. so it's not as if they sacrificed all the POC first. The Dothraki love open warfare and charging to their deaths with a Arrack in their hand and a scream in their throats. They never expected the enemy to be so fierce though. The unsullied did what they do too. They created a shield wall and held them back as the Unsullied has done before. 3. All the heros that died were white. I'm not saying I have an issue with why you'd think that but there is an explanation behind it. Not subtle racism. D&D know the characters but they dont know anything about battle tactic. Thats why the Dothraki died in a charge and the Unsullied held the outside of the wall.

Joanna doesn't seem to understand what a Mary Sue is. Rey is 100% a Mary Sue. But she's right about Arya NOT being one, she had full seasons of training to be an assassin. Rey was instantly perfect at everything she did with no prior experience or explanation. That is the very definition of a Mary Sue. I don't see how people can argue against that.

Only weenies are complaining about the episode being too dark😆. I watched it on a 10 year old plasma and didn’t have an issue. Was it dark? Sure but I just adjusted the tv’s black levels and brightness. Issue avoided. I generally have more of an issue with excessively low-talking rather than scenes that are too dark.

More than just Jorah came back from the original attack of dothraki.... "eye roll". I think sometimes digging into the episode too much can make one forget how amazing the story itself is. I have never enjoyed an hour plus of television in my life more than I did watching this. Yes i have watched it more than once. Also, DUH they can summon an ice storm. Literally seen it multiple times in the show. Dragon combat in this episode is consistent with how George described the Dance with Dragons during the Targaryenbattle over succession. Maybe the characters just are dumber than the audience... Like they are just human. I think Tyrion's prediction of them all living was based on the conversation he had with Bran, which of course was not on screen. The main antagonist is Cersei. Well said on the "Mary Sue" conversation. You could argue that no one in the entire universe was more prepared to pull that off than Arya. All of these debate has proven that this is the greatest show ever made
