Welcome to the Mind Matters podcast by Sahaita. Mind Matters is an emotional wellness initiative catered toward immigrant & diasporic communities with a cultural perspective. Each episode, we bring medical professionals to discuss topics related to mental health and wellness.
Today’s episode is about Postpartum Depression (PPD). PPD is a type of depression that can occur during pregnancy or after childbirth. It is thought to be caused by a combination of hormonal changes, physical and emotional stress, and the adjustment to becoming a new parent.
These hormonal changes that occur during and after pregnancy can have a significant effect on a woman's mental health and can cause a range of emotions, from mild sadness to severe depression. Today we have our experts, Dr. Rupinder Randhawa and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Kirti Varma, who are going to give us more insight on this topic.
