Sahaita Mind Matters S1 E2: Neurodiversity
Description
Host: Rhina Kaur
Guest speaker: Jagmeet Kaur, Behavioral Analyst
Topic: Neurodiversity
Welcome to the Mind Matters podcast by Sahaita. Mind Matters is an emotional wellness initiative catered toward immigrant & diasporic communities with a cultural perspective. Each episode, we bring medical professionals to discuss topics related to mental health and wellness.
This Autism Awareness month, our episode is about Neuodiversity, a term coined by Australian sociologist Judy Singer. It is described as the natural difference in the way our brains work. Thanks to Behavior Pivot Consulting, we've learned that it includes individuals whose cognitive functions vary from what is considered "neurotypical", i.e. Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Tourette's Syndrome, and more.
Sahaita Mind Matters is not intended to replace emergency services. If you or someone you know is experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline).
