Description

Welcome to the Mindful 15: A short monthly episode (15 minutes or less) where I step out of the usual format and fly solo, sharing personal insights on self awareness and mindset development from my own journey as a creative entrepreneur.

In this November episode of the Mindful 15, I talk about the importance of stopping to reflect once awhile on all the small, tiny details that shape so much of what we create, who we are and how we live.

Listen to your life

Now and Then: A Memoir of Vocation – Frederick Buechner

The In Between – Jeff Goins

In this Episode

* Quote from Frederick Buechner’s memoir that inspired this episode: “Listen to your life. See it for the fathomless mystery that it is. In the boredom and pain of it no less than in the excitement and gladness: touch, taste, smell your way to holy and hidden heart of it because in the last analysis all moments are key moments, and life itself is grace.”

* How I came upon Frederick Buechner and my thoughts on the read

* On my struggles with gaining/keeping perspective the last nearly 5 years of my creative journey and the tunnel vision I experienced with different projects.

* Why our experiences often blind us to what is right in front of us.

* Becoming self aware enough to slow down and consider what we might be overlooking.

* Realizing that so much of our life is colored by events and experiences that complicate the true meaning of our journey.

* Even those who embrace the idea of living intentionally, deliberately, and filling our days with value and meaning still struggle to make time for intense self reflection.

* My experience with intentional practice of being present

* Steve Jobs and his infamous “you can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards,” and why I altered to “You can only connect the dots looking inward.”

* Why I started listening to everything in my life a lot more and gained some much-needed creative perspective.

* Why so much of what we assume is true will wash away in the light of real perspective.
