One of the most radical actions against private property in Germany had been the squatting movement. People would occupy empty buildings to use them for the needs of their group as well as their political agenda.
In the recent years, the social democrat governments in Europe have turned more and more to Neo-liberalist agendas. It’s been a long time that any squatting action is considered illegal and faces severe consequences. However, gentrification of the neighborhoods and the marginalization of the poor population calls for more social housing...
For this episode, I talked with Harald Glöde who was active in the Squatting movement in the late 70s and 80s.
