Tidal, a music streaming platform that started in 2014, highlights the challenges of launching a platform business and the shifts in the music industry. In this episode, founder of Tidal Andy Chen, Professor Johannes Loh and host Susanna Pinnock, discusses "chicken and egg problem," niche strategies, and why people invest in platforms that aren't making a profit. 

 

Andy Chen is the founder of TIDAL, a Norwegian-American subscription-based audio streaming service that also streams music videos. He is also the CEO of WeOrder; a vertically focused financial platform for the restaurant industry.

 

Johannes Loh is an associate professor at department of Strategy and Entrepreneurship in BI. Johannes focuses his research primarily on digital platforms and the actors participating in these ecosystems. 


Susanna Pinnock, the host, is a PhD student in entrepreneurship at BI and a former entrepreneur.
