Hazardous Weather Outlook. This hazardous weather outlook is for northeast and north central Colorado. Day one. Today and Tonight. Brief clearing over northeast Colorado late this morning and afternoon will allow for the development of more rain showers and scattered thunderstorms. Thunderstorms will be mainly focused over the higher terrain, especially along the Palmer Ridge where a few storms will have the potential to become severe later this afternoon. The strongest storms may be capable of 1 inch hail, gusty winds to 60 mph and possibly a weak tornado. The mountain areas may see up to another 3 to 6 inches of snow accumulation through late tonight. Travelers in the mountains above 9000 feet should be prepared for the wintery conditions that will continue into tonight. Days two through seven. Sunday through Friday. Cool and wet conditions are expected to prevail through Sunday as an upper level storm system moves over the state. Rain showers and thunderstorms are expected across the plains, but will be decreasing later Sunday afternoon and evening. There will be lingering rain and snow showers in the mountains, with a few inches of additional accumulations possible over the higher elevations. Drier and warmer conditions are expected to spread across Colorado from Monday through Thursday as a strong upper level ridge builds over the southern Great Plains. There will only be isolated late day showers and thunderstorms, mainly over the mountains and higher terrain. Spotter information statement. Spotter activation will likely be needed mainly over Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln after 2pm.

Stay tuned for weather updates since the weather’s always changing.
