Hazardous Weather Outlook. This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of northern. western. central. and southern Oklahoma. and western north Texas. Day one. Today and Tonight. Thunderstorms. Showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop and move across portions of Oklahoma this morning, mainly along and north of the I-40 corridor. Some of these storms could be strong to severe with strong winds, hail, and heavy rain. Additional storms are expected to develop this afternoon and evening. Initially these storms could be discrete but are expected to develop into one or more thunderstorm complexes that move across portions of the area late this afternoon and evening. There is an Enhanced risk for severe storms across portions of central and southern Oklahoma, and western north Texas, with a Slight risk across the rest of the area. Very large hail up to the size of baseballs and strong wind gusts to 65 mph will be the main concerns with the initial storms. Damaging winds will become an increasing concern late this afternoon and evening with the potential hail size decreasing. There is also a low risk for a few tornadoes across portions of south central and southeast Oklahoma late this afternoon and evening. Spotter and emergency management statement. Storm spotter groups and emergency management personnel across the area should prepare for severe weather operations into this evening. Heavy Rain and Flooding. Heavy rain will be possible in some areas into this evening which could lead to flash flooding and/or river flooding in some locations. Days two through seven. Monday through Saturday. Thunderstorms. There are low chances for storms across portions of southern Oklahoma and north Texas Monday. Thunderstorms will also be possible across portions of the area Tuesday. There is a Marginal risk for severe storms across northern and western Oklahoma for large hail and strong winds. Flood Watch. Flooding Possible through Early Monday. Flood watch remains in effect through monday morning. The Flood Watch for flash flooding. flooding of creeks and rivers. and flooding of low lying areas continues for. portions of Oklahoma and northern Texas, including the following areas, in Oklahoma, Atoka, Bryan, Caddo, Canadian, Carter, Cleveland, Coal, Comanche, Cotton, Garvin, Grady, Hughes, Jefferson, Johnston, Lincoln, Logan, Love, Marshall, McClain, Murray, Oklahoma, Payne, Pontotoc, Pottawatomie, Seminole, and Stephens. In northern Texas, Clay. Through early Monday. A complex of thunderstorms will continue to move across portions of the area this morning. Another complex is expected this afternoon and evening. Due to saturated soils, the heavy rainfall that is expected could lead to areas of flooding. Avoid areas that normally flood during heavy rain and do not drive into areas where water covers the road. Flooding is very hard to see at night, so use extreme caution if you are traveling at night. Precautionary/preparedness actions. A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
