Ed Kemper detested his mother.  She belittled and mocked him.  She refused to show him affection because she thought it would make him "effeminate."  His first kill was when he was 15.  He was sent to a mental hospital, but he fooled the doctors, as he had an IQ of 145, genius level.
He was set free, and would become The CoEd Killer.  After his imprisonment, he would openly speak to the FBI on their first exploration into profiling serial killers.
