The Direct Relationship Between Mental Illness and Poverty
Update: 2019-05-05
Description
With May being Mental Health Awareness Month we are making a concentrated effort to spread the word about Mental Health in the Black Community. I also discuss the issue of how expensive it is to be poor in America and the direct relationship between poverty and mental health. I touch on the stigma associated with mental health, the problems with overdraft fees, as well as predatory lending and cash bail reform. This is an overview and the beginning of a series of pieces that we are producing on Black With No Chaser to inform, educate, and enlighten the diaspora of these two things that are plaguing our communities. I also talk about the National Bailout Organization's Black Mama Bailout movement to bail black mamas out of jail in time for Mother's Day. And finally, there is new Colonizer Nonsense segment focused on this country's injustice system.
