But when that emergency crew never leaves — when the sirens are blaring every single day — that turns into chronic inflammation.

And that’s when things start to go sideways: heart disease, Alzheimer’s, autoimmune problems, even cancer.

A lot of this comes down to everyday choices — things as simple as eating sugar can keep that fire burning without you even realizing it.
