Description

Xulhaz Mannan was a proud gay man in Bangladesh, which made him one of just a few people who decided to own and live their truth in a very conservative and predominantly Muslim country. But Xulhaz went a step further than that. He created the first and only gay rights magazine of Bangladesh and organised a Rainbow Rally to promote equality and freedom.
This made him and fellow activist Mahbub Tonoy moving targets for a group of radical Islamists who did not take kindly to anyone they deemed anti-Islamic. For their passion and decision to create a safe space for their community, Xulhaz and Mahbub paid the ultimate price.
