The Orthodox Nationalist 09-24-25 : Bulgaria as a Great Power, 1912-1913
Update: 2025-09-25
Description
Bulgaria had almost reached the status of a Great Power by the end of the First Balkan War. Bulgaria's rapid rise to military and industrial prominence frightened the British and even the Russians. Bulgaria was capable of leading the Balkan Orthodox even without Russian assistance. The ancient city of Trnovo once called itself the “Third Rome” after the fall of Constantinople. London and Paris played on Serbian, Romanian and Greek insecurity to destroy Bulgaria and ensure permanent instability.
