Statistically Stockvels amount to about R49 billion of the Informal Economy. As a result they must have great potential to have an impact on unemployment, addressing financial inclusion and financial mobility. Stockvels have their own way of regulating themselves but there is a regulatory body called Nasasa who is doing attempting to deal with Stockvels and regulations.
