Timeless Lessons From A Money Manager That Helps Tech Employees Invest Their Money

Guest name: Eric Franklin

AUM: $60M

Bio:

Eric is the Managing Principal and Owner of Prospero Wealth, a financial planning and wealth management firm dedicated to inspiring tech professionals to live larger and more impactful lives. Prospero Wealth is the only advisory practice to focus on this large and affluent population by providing a highly curated set of data-driven products and services, and by training multi- decade tech veterans to act as lead advisors.

Despite relatively high pay and benefits, a 2020 Gartner survey found that two out of three tech workers were open to or already seeking jobs in other industries. Tech professionals are highly educated and skeptical of financial salespeople. Prospero Wealth has found them to be more comfortable working with advisors that have a similar career background and who have already made similar career switches they are looking to make for themselves (“second-act” careers with larger personal satisfaction and control).

Prior to starting Prospero Wealth, Eric worked 23 years in technology, most notably at Amazon for over 18 years (over three separate terms starting in 1998) where he was an early product owner for Customer Reviews and Wish Lists, managed teams of product managers delivering category expansion for Amazon, and designed a large-scale technology platform for Customer Service triggering automated actions in response to large scale anomaly detection. In between those three stints at Amazon, Eric also worked in a number of startups as the head of product.

Eric holds a B.A. degree in literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and lives in Seattle with his wife and two children. He loves taking the family skiing (even though he is a lifelong snowboarder), spinning vinyl in his home office, and is an avid reader.
