Titanic

Description
The Titanic was a British luxury passenger liner that sank on its maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to New York City, USA, in April 1912, after it struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean. The ship was built by the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast and at that time, it was the largest ship afloat. The Titanic was famously declared as 'unsinkable' due to its design having sixteen watertight compartments, making it resistant to iceberg damage. Yet, when it hit an iceberg on the night of 14 April 1912, five of these compartments were breached leading to the sinking of the ship. Despite carrying enough lifeboats for 1,178 people, only about 706 of its more than 2,200 passengers and crew survived the disaster.
