Two friends from Michigan, William Chen and Guan Wang, turned down a multi-million dollar offer from Elon Musk to pursue their ambitious goal of creating a brain-inspired reasoning system. Their open-source language model, OpenChat, gained popularity and recognition for its unique approach using reinforcement learning. Now, with their company Sapient Intelligence, theyve developed a model that outperforms some of the worlds biggest AI systems in abstract reasoning tests, aiming to achieve Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) through smaller, more efficient architectures.
