Update: 2025-12-06
Description
The United States and Rwanda have signed a $228 million health sector deal, marking the second of its kind under the Trump administrations new global health strategy. This agreement, similar to Kenyas recent deal, focuses on improving countries self-reliance in managing their health systems. The U.S. will contribute up to $158 million for combating HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other infectious diseases, as well as bolstering disease surveillance and outbreak response capabilities. Rwanda plans to increase its own domestic health investment by $70 million, signifying greater financial responsibility. This collaborative effort aims to create lasting improvements in public health for the Rwandan people.
