Description

Sam, The Shaolin B-Boy investigates whether or not it is illegal to video tape police officers while on duty. Based out of Oakland CA, this story touches on issues inspired by the case of Oscar Grant, an unarmed man shot in the back early New Year's Day 2009 by BART Police Officer Johannes Mehserle and by the case of Boston Laywer Simon Glik, arrested for filming police brutality in 2007. These two cases are tied together by the voices of Bobby Seale, founder of the Black Panther party, Cephus Johnson, uncle of Oscar Grant, Andrea Pritchette, found of Berkeley Copwatch, Rashidah Grinage, director of PUEBLO, and more. Sections on what to do with your video, what to do if police arrest you and how to proceed with filing complaints against police.
